The types of Hajj are three.

1. Ifraad: Is making the intention and going into Ihram for Hajj only.

2. Tamattu: Is performing a complete Umrah during the months of Hajj, followed by exiting the state of Ihram, and then re-entering Ihram for Hajj on the days of Hajj.

3. Qiran: Is combining the intention of both Umrah & Hajj in a single Ihram. 

The most virtuous type of Hajj is “Tamattu” as this was the intent of the Prophet ﷺ and likewise commanded his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to perform Tamattu.

The Prophet ﷺ performed one Hajj after the Hijrah, on the 10th year, which was the farewell Hajj, in which he ﷺ bid farewell to his companions.

The type of Hajj the Prophet ﷺ performed was Qiran, hence Qiran is considered the most virtuous type of Hajj after Tamattu.

It is said that over 100,000 of the companions performed Hajj with the Prophet ﷺ.

The Messenger ﷺ designated Ihram points depending on which direction you came from.

1- Dhul Hulayfah or known as Abyar Ali for the people of Madinah, along with whoever is coming from that direction.

2- Juhfah which located near the city of Rabigh, for the people of Sham, Egypt and anyone coming from the West.

3- Qarn Al-Manazil or known as As-Sail Al-Kabeer for the people of Najd and anyone coming from the East.

4- Dhat Irq for the people of Iraq and anyone coming from that direction.

5- Yalamlam for the people of Yemen and anyone coming from the southern direction. 

It is necessary for the pilgrim to enter into the state of Ihram before passing through any of the following designated Ihram points, this also applies to those flying over it. 

Thus, all plane en-route to Jeddah give an approximate estimate of the distance to the Miqaat, along with an announcement, before flying over. 

The Farewell Tawaf is from the obligations of Hajj for all pilgrims who’ve came to perform Hajj from outside of Makkah, the Farewell Tawaf shall be the last act performed by the pilgrim before departing Makkah, after completing the rituals of Hajj.

With the condition of you having performed Hajj prior, it is permissible for you to perform Hajj or appoint someone else to perform Hajj on behalf of a deceased or someone alive, however isn’t capable of fulfilling the rituals, due to old age or long term illness. 

For those performing Hajj Tamattu’ then they enter the state of Ihram for Hajj from their Hotels/Residence and for the people of Makkah from their homes.

The pillars of Hajj are four:

1. Intention for Hajj

2. Standing of Arafah

3. Tawaf 

4. Sa’ee

The nullifiers are three types:

1st Type (For both Men and Women)

1. Cutting of the Hair

2. Touching spouse out of desire

3. Perfume & Scent

4. Haunting

5. Marriage Contracts 

6. Intercourse 

7. Cutting of the Nails

2nd Type (Specific for Men)

1. Wearing tailored clothing (Pants, Shirt, Thobe, Under Clothes, Socks, etc.)

2. Covering of the head

3rd Type (Specific for Women)

1. Covering of the face

2. Covering the hands 

If someone falls into a nullifier from the nullifiers of Ihram, out of forgetfulness or ignorance, then there is nothing upon this person and their rituals is correct and valid. 

However, upon this individual is to get rid of or refrain from this nullifier the moment he or she remembers, or acknowledges that it is a nullifier from the nullifiers of Ihram.

The days of Hajj are the following 6 days:

8th of Dhul Hijjah (Yawm At-Tarwiyah)

9th of Dhul Hijjah (Yawm Arafah)

10th of Dhul Hijjah (Yawm An-Nahr)

11th of Dhul Hijjah (Yawm Al-Qarr)

12th of Dhul Hijjah (Yawm An-Nafr Al-Awwal)

13th of Dhul Hijjah (Yawm An-Nafr Ath-Thani) (Optional)

It is permissible to stone the Jamaraat on behalf of children, elderly, and sick who aren’t able to do the stoning, with the condition that the one stoning is performing Hajj themself.

If the pilgrim performs two of the following three rituals then they initially exit the state of Ihram:

1. Stoning the Jamratul Aqabah

2. Shaving/Shortening of the Hair

3. Hajj Tawaf

It is permissible for the pilgrim to postpone their Hajj Tawaf and/or Sa’ai beyond the day of An-Nahr, for whatever the case maybe.

Firstly, this individual is sinful for leaving off an obligation from the obligations of Hajj, however their Hajj is valid.

Secondly, upon this individual is a penalty, which is slaughtering an animal in Makkah, and distributing it to the needy in Makkah. 

Spending the Day of Tarwiyah in Mina is from the Sunnan of Hajj, and whomsoever isn’t able to do so for whatever the case maybe, then there is nothing upon them, and their Hajj is correct.

Spending the nights of Tashreeq in Mina is from the obligations of Hajj, and it is not permissible to spend these nights outside of Mina without necessity. 

Performing Tawaf Al-Qudum is a Sunnah for the one performing Hajj Ifraad.

The Prophet ﷺ departed Muzdalifah on the morning of the day of An-Nahr after praying Salaatul Fajr as soon as it entered, and making Dua until before the rising of the Sun. 

However the Prophet ﷺ has permitted for the elderly, sick and those with specific circumstances to depart Muzdalifah after midnight. 

The time of Stoning on the day of An-Nahr begins for the Pilgrim as soon as the Pilgrim departs Muzdalifah.

The time of Stoning on the days of Tashreeq begins at the time of Zawal or at entrance of the time of Dhuhr, this is the time the Prophet ﷺ done the Stoning before praying Dhuhr Salah.

The time of Stoning ends before the entrance of Fajr the following morning, except on the 13th day, as for the 13th day (the final day of the days of Tashreeq) the Stoning ends before Sunset.

This is not permissible in anyway, as Hajj is an obligation based on ability and from having the ability to perform Hajj in this modern day era is having the necessary permits and visas required and put in place by the authorities, for the interest and well-being of the pilgrims. 

That being said, the Hajj that is perform in this way is correct and valid, however the individual is sinful for cheating/lying and not abiding the measures put in place by the Hajj authorities.  

Fundamentally, it is not permissible for a woman to travel for Hajj without a Mahram.

And Allah knows best.

It is permissible for a Woman to cover her face during Hajj, in the presence of non-Mahram Men, however without wearing a Burqa or Niqab, as it is not permissible.  

It is permissible for the pilgrim to change their Ihram during Hajj while in the state of Ihram, likewise it is permissible for them to shower, however whilst refraining from using anything with scent, such as soaps, oils, deodorants, etc. 

Lastly, scent free soaps, oils, deodorants are permissible to use.

Visiting Madinah is not from the rites of Hajj and Umrah, rather visiting Madinah and in specific the Prophet’s Mosque ﷺ is a separate act of worship itself.

It is permissible for her to perform all of the rituals of Hajj, except performing Tawaf, while likewise staying away from everything a Woman should not perform during this period, such as Prayer, and so forth. 

As for the Tawaf of Hajj, she will postpone it to whenever she completes her cycle and becomes pure.

This is permissible, for whatever the case or reason maybe and Allah knows best. 

5 things become a result of falling into intercourse during Hajj:

1. This individual has fallen into a grave mistake, that requires sincere repentance.

2. The Hajj of this individual has become nullified.

3. It in obligation for them to complete the rituals of that Hajj despite its invalidation.

4. It is an obligation upon them to make up for that Hajj the following the year.

5. Upon them is a penalty of slaughtering an animal in Makkah and distributing it among the less fortunate needy in Makkah.
